Wines Included In This Case Are:
2018 Chablis 1er Cru ‘Les Vaillons’ Vieilles Vignes, Domaine Laroche (Burgundy, France)
(100% Chardonnay)
One of the most powerful premier crus in Chablis, with an east/south exposure. The extra ripeness & old vines here have produced a tremendously concentrated wine, with a tight, mineral quality.
The wine displays complex aromas of flint, ripe pear & summer blossom. The palate offers intensely concentrated flavours of citrus & apricot fruit balanced by linear acidity & culminating in a persistent, refreshing finish.
2017 Santenay 1er Cru `Passetemps`, Jean-Claude Boisset, Laroche (Burgundy, France)
(100% Chardonnay)
From the southernmost appellation in the Côte d’Or, this Santenay Premier Cru is a typically ripe & full Chardonnay, the south-eastern exposure lending it full, tropical flavours.
Unlike other Burgundian négociants, winemaker Grégory Patriat specialises in making wines from ‘lieu-dits’ or tiny plots of vines, something which accounts for the limited production of most of his wines.
2017 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru `En Remilly`, Jean-Claude Boisset, Laroche (Côte de Beaune, Burgundy, France)
(100% Chardonnay)
“En Remilly” vineyard is located on the Montagne du Ban, five minutes’ walk from Chevalier Montrachet in the Côte de Beaune. No bâtonnage encourages the mineral character & 30% ageing in new French barrels adds a delicate oaky hint.
The nose boasts aromas of citrus fruit, white peach & subtle notes of vanilla. On the palate, the flavours are concentrated & layered. The wine is well-balanced with bright, lifted acidity & perfectly integrated oak.
2017 Ladoix Blanc 1er Cru `Les Gréchons`, Domaine Chevalier, Laroche (Côte de Beaune, Burgundy, France)
(100% Chardonnay)
Made from h&picked grapes from old vines from a small Premier Cru vineyard, ‘Les Gréchons’. The site’s southerly exposure adds weight to the already high quality fruit. Lovely intense fruit & lively acidity make it a wonderful example of a top Burgundy.
2017 Chablis Gr& Cru `Vaudésir`, Domaine de L’Enclos, Laroche (Chablis, Burgundy, France)
(100% Chardonnay)
The Chablis Gr& Cru Vaudésir from the dynamic Bouchard brothers comes from south-facing vines. While young, it is layered & intensely concentrated yet beautifully defined with linear acidity & waves of delineated citrus & stone fruit.
This wine was made from grapes located in the south-facing vineyards, which has resulted in a wine that is opulent with very ripe citrus aromas. It is approachable with a long & complex finish.
2017 Chassagne-Montrachet `Vieilles Laroche (Côte de Beaune, Burgundy, France)
(100% Chardonnay)
The Vieilles Vignes has huge complexity on the nose, with orange flowers & a dusty mineral note. On the palate, good acidity balances the richness of the body, & there is a touch of spice on the long finish.
